Dodgers Prospects: July 22, 2022 Wrap Up; Yeiner Fernandez, Diego Cartaya, Hunter Feduccia

Luis Diaz was promoted from the Quakes to the Loons. Diaz, with the Quakes, had 282 at-bats and ended up with 11 homers, 59 RBI, a slash of .277/.355/.450, and 27 stolen bases.

Today, some catchers stepped up, big time!

OKC Dodgers

Dustin May had his first Triple-A rehab start tonight in the 10-4 win. The Dodgers were hoping May would go 3 innings but he only could get 2 in. He threw 49 pitches with only 24 strikes. This should not be surprising for someone coming back from Tommy John surgery as the command is one of the last items to come along. The offense was led by catcher Hunter Feduccia as he was 3 for 5 with a grand slam home run and 5 RBI. He now has an OPS in Triple-A of 1.081. Ryan Noda hit his 13th home run as he had 2 hits along with Michael Busch.

Tulsa Drillers

The Drillers lost 7-3 as top pitching prospect Bobby Miller struggled a bit. 3B Brandon Lewis (with a double) and SS Leonel Valera (with a triple) each had two hits.

Great Lakes Loons

The Loons had a big win, 12-2. Diego Cartaya hit his 6th homer for the Loons (15th overall) and had 4 RBI to spark the Loons. Eddys Leonard, Alex De Jesus, and Aldrich De Jong each had two hits. Jose Ramos left the game very early but I have not heard what the problem was. On the mound lefty Ben Harris was outstanding in his 2 innings. He struck out 4 and gave up nothing.

Rancho Cucamonga Quakes

The Quakes exploded for a 12-0 win. Catcher Yeiner Fernandez led the way with 2 homers, including a grand slam. The other homer was a 3-run shot so Fernadez had 7 RBI on the day. LF Yunior Garcia has 2 singles and a double while 3B Hector Martinez had a single and a double.

Orlando Ortiz-Mayr threw 4 innings of excellent relief; giving up 2 hits and striking out 5.

ACL Dodgers

The ACL team lost 10-6. 2B Wilman Diaz hit his second home run of the season, a three-run shot. 1B Jorge Puerta also hit a home run and is having a great season. His OPS is 1.206. Luis Morales also had two hits.

DSL Mega and Bautista

The Mega DSL team lost 4-1. Overall the team had 10 hits led by 3B Jose Hernandez and RF Samuel Munoz with 2 hits apiece. The 17-year-old lefty-swinging Munoz has an OPS of .955. Keep an eye on him. On the mound, both Reynaldo Yean and Domingo Geronimo pitched 2 innings without giving up a run. Yean has 29 strikeouts in just 17.1 innings with a WHIP of 1.04.

The Bautista team lost 8-3. 18-year-old catcher, Angel Diaz was the only player with more than one hit, with two. Shortstop Oswaldo Osorio chipped in with a double. He has an OPS of .979 so he might be another to keep an eye on.
