Oklahoma City Comets (Triple-A)

Alek Thomas went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI in our guys’ 2-1 win over El Paso on Saturday. That’s the kind of at-bat distribution we like to see from him—he’s making contact, driving the ball, and doing damage when it matters. The triple especially stands out; that’s extra-base power, and it’s the kind of thing that shows up on scouts’ radars. Thomas also stole a base, so he’s running when the opportunity presents itself. One strikeout in the game, but you can live with that when he’s putting the ball in play otherwise.

Zach Ehrhard delivered when it counted. A double and a walk in three at-bats, scoring twice. That’s a classic DH line—get on base, run the bases, put pressure on the opponent. Chris Newell added a hit, a walk, and a stolen base in three plate appearances; he’s being patient at the plate and running when there’s a chance to move into scoring position.

The pitching side held up its end. Ryder Ryan threw four innings, allowing just one earned run on a walk and a strikeout. Not flashy, but efficient—the kind of start that keeps you in close games. Garrett McDaniels picked up the win in relief, needing just one inning to keep it clean despite two walks. Jerming Rosario closed it out for his fourth save of the season. This was a tight, low-scoring affair, and our pitchers made sure it stayed that way.
