Oklahoma City Comets — Triple-A

Zach Ehrhard hit a solo homer to power the Comets over El Paso 3-2, a tight game that came down to pitching depth. Ehrhard’s blast accounted for all the offensive run production we needed, and he walked twice in the process—the kind of patient at-bat approach that stands out in close games. Will Smith contributed two doubles from the DH spot, staying productive as we move through late August.

The pitching was the real story here. Emmet Sheehan delivered a strong 5.2 innings, striking out seven with just one earned run allowed, which kept OKC in position to win. When things got tight in the final frame, Justin Wrobleski came on and closed it out, earning the win despite a blown save earlier in the outing—sometimes that’s how minor league games go. The bullpen held up when it mattered most.

Tulsa Drillers — Double-A

Tulsa put on a power display, dominating Midland 10-6 in a game where multiple position players made their mark. Jake Gelof led the charge with three hits, including a homer, and drove in four runs—that’s the kind of game that shows why we’re invested in his development. Elijah Hainline also went deep, adding two RBIs from shortstop, and Mairo Martinus homered as well, accounting for three RBIs. When three guys hit home runs in a Double-A game, you’re going to win most of the time.

Taylor Young at second base was a table-setter, going 2-for-4 with a double, three walks, and a steal—that’s precision offensive work. Josue De Paula went 2-for-6 with a double and scored twice, while Kole Myers drew two more walks and stole a base from the left field corner. The at-bat quality was there across the lineup.

On the mound, Kelvin Ramirez [(W, 8-3)] picked up the win in relief, throwing two clean innings with three strikeouts. Patrick Copen struggled in his start, allowing four earned runs in four innings, but the offense gave Tulsa enough cushion to absorb that and still run away with it.

Great Lakes Loons — High-A

Great Lakes put on a display of offensive firepower, beating Lansing 13-5. Mairo Martinus was a force from the shortstop position, going 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs. Eduardo Guerrero at third base went 3-for-5 and drove in two runs, staying hot as we reach the final stretch of the season. Charles Davalan went deep as well, driving in two, and the power just kept coming from our lineup.

Eduardo Quintero in right field went 2-for-3 with a double and scored a run, while Emil Morales [(DH)] contributed a double and two RBIs. Gio Cueto behind the plate went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs—solid offensive production from the catcher spot. Jaron Elkins in center drew two walks and drove in a run as well.

Isaac Ayon [(W, 2-5)] dominated on the mound for us, throwing five scoreless innings with just two strikeouts on 0 walks. That’s an efficient outing where he let his defense work behind him. When we score 13 runs, we’re not going to lose, but Ayon’s control was a bonus.

Ontario Tower Buzzers — Single-A

Ontario won a tight low-scoring affair against Stockton 4-1, with multiple hitters providing the power punch we needed. Ching-Hsien Ko in left field went 2-for-4 with a homer and a double, driving in two runs—a multi-hit power game from a young outfielder. Kellon Lindsey at second base also went deep, and Conner O’Neal behind the plate hit a solo shot as well. Three home runs in a 4-1 win tells you everything about where the runs came from.

Easton Shelton at first didn’t record a hit but drew two walks and was hit by a pitch, working the count and getting on base twice—the kind of at-bat discipline that matters at this level. Kellon Lindsey walked once more on top of his homer, extending his presence at the plate.

The pitching staff was locked in. Luis Gamez opened with four scoreless innings, striking out six despite four walks—that’s competitive stuff. Devin Bell [(W, 2-0)] came out of the bullpen clean, and Jecsua Liborius [(S, 11)] finished strong with a save, striking out two in the final frame.
