From a prospect perspective, there wasn’t much to write home about in the loss to the Mariners tonight, March 22nd. DJ Peters was in the starting lineup in centerfield. The rookie pitchers scheduled to pitch were Josiah Gray and Bobby Miller. With just four games remaining players like Peters, Zach McKinstry, and Sheldon Neuse need to make their mark. With both Joe Kelly and Brusdar Graterol not looking good for the Opening Day roster, there might be room for someone like Garrett Cleavinger. There weren’t a lot of highlights for us to write about but the later parts of the game were fun.
First Round Pick Shows Up
Bobby Miller came into the game after Josiah Gray had a bit of uncharacteristic wildness. With runners on second and third, Miller got Dylan Moore to groundout on one pitch. In the top of the eighth, he got a flyout on one pitch to Omar Estevez (playing the outfield again), then struck out the next two batters in a dominant fashion.

Does it seem that the Dodgers’ management might have found another future star? When you draft at the bottom of the draft they have to count. Let’s hope he’s the next big draft steal.
31-Year-Old Rookie Continues To Impress
Elliot Soto was signed by the Dodgers to a minor league contract after being granted free agency by the Angels. Right now Soto is on the Triple-A roster and it is most likely he will start the season there. However, he continues to impress me in his brief appearances in Spring Training.

In Spring Training, Soto has 5 hits in 17 at-bats for a .294 batting average. He plays all around the infield and it would not surprise me if he got called up to the Dodgers at some point. My guess is that he has a career in coaching after a few more seasons between Triple-A and the majors.
Final Thoughts
The Dodgers play the Brewers at 1:05 PM PST with Walker Buehler on the mound. Get ready for another round of cuts.
