Oklahoma City Comets (Triple-A)

James Tibbs III and Noah Miller both went deep for our guys in OKC, but the Comets couldn’t hold the line in a 14-8 loss to El Paso. Tibbs, playing DH, went 1-for-5 with his home run and drove in three runs to pace the offense. Miller, at short, homered as well and matched Tibbs with three RBIs on a 1-for-3 night. Both homers showed some real juice when they connected, but the rest of the lineup couldn’t generate enough consistent damage to keep pace.

Ryan Fitzgerald had the best night at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. He also moved two bases on the night and drew a walk, which tells you he was dialed in at the plate and disciplined in the box. Chris Newell contributed 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Mike Sirota reached base three times via walk and picked up a double in just two at-bats, showing good plate recognition even if the hit total doesn’t jump off the page.

The offensive ceiling was there—you had multiple guys with power at-bats—but nine total hits against El Paso’s pitching wasn’t enough. This one stings because the bats had their moments. Still, this is development time for these guys, and learning to string together plate appearances across a lineup is the real test in Triple-A.
