Oklahoma City Comets (Triple-A)

Our guys in OKC got it done against Sugar Land last night, 8-6, and it was the kind of win that matters at this level—clean pitching down the stretch and timely hitting when it mattered. Jackson Ferris was the star here, going six innings, striking out seven and allowing just one run on two walks. The kind of performance that sticks with you. Chris Campos came in for the save situation and locked it down—1.1 innings, three strikeouts, nothing fancy. That’s winning baseball.

The lineup did what needed doing. Ryan Fitzgerald was the engine, driving in four runs on a double, and Austin Gauthier chipped in two more with a 2-for-3 night. James Tibbs III reached base three times (1-3, 2 BB) and scored three runs, working that patient approach we’ve seen developing all year. Ryan Ward stayed aggressive, going 2-for-3 with two walks and a steal—that’s the kind of versatility we need at the upper levels. Ben Rortvedt contributed two hits and two runs behind the plate, steady as always.

It’s not the flashiest win, but Triple-A wins rarely are. This one shows depth—Ferris showing he can go deep and eat innings, Campos shutting the door, and a balanced offensive attack. Keep an eye on Ferris. That command and strikeout rate is what Triple-A success looks like.

Tulsa Drillers (Double-A)

Tulsa wasn’t messing around. Ten runs on Northwest Arkansas, one run allowed, final score 10-1—that’s dominance at the Double-A level. Alex Walsh set the tone, allowing nothing on two walks and three strikeouts in 2.2 innings. When your starter puts zeroes on the board like that, everything else flows easier.

The bats were absolutely hot. Logan Wagner went nuclear, hitting two homers (3-for-5 with a double) and driving in three. That’s a statement game. Josue De Paula went yard too—1 HR, double, 3 RBI in a 2-for-4 night with a walk. When you get two guys going deep in the same game, the opponent is in trouble, and that showed early.

Sean McLain added his own home run (1-3 with a BB), and Jake Gelof contributed two RBIs on a double and a walk. Taylor Young picked up an RBI with two runs scored, while Jose Izarra stole a base and scored twice. This was a complete blowout—not even close.

There’s real talent moving up this system. Wagner’s got that power stroke. De Paula’s getting on base and hitting for distance. Walsh showed control and confidence on the mound. Games like this don’t come around every night, but when they do, you take them and move on.
