Oklahoma City Comets (Triple-A) — W, 9-2 vs Las Vegas

A really clean night for our guys in OKC, and the story starts with Alek Thomas, who continues to look like a man on a mission. Thomas went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, a stolen base, and scored three times. That’s the kind of complete offensive game you want to see from a guy who’s trying to force his way back onto the big league radar. He was involved in just about every rally and set the tone from the outfield spot all night.

Zach Ehrhard matched Thomas’s energy, going 3-for-4 with a double and driving in four runs. Four RBI from the left field spot — you don’t need to dress that up. Ehrhard has been quietly productive, and nights like this are how you stay in the conversation. Chuckie Robinson added a solo homer and a walk, and Jack Suwinski chipped in an RBI, a walk, and a stolen base. Alex Freeland doubled and walked, scoring twice from the top of the order. The lineup was clicking up and down.

On the mound, Jerming Rosario earned the win (3-1) with three scoreless innings, striking out one and walking one. It wasn’t a flashy outing, but zero earned runs in three innings of work is exactly what you want from a guy in that role. He kept it simple and let the offense do the rest.

Tulsa Drillers (Double-A) — W, 9-3 vs Northwest Arkansas

Adam Serwinowski is making a case to be one of the more reliable arms in the system right now. Six innings, six strikeouts, just one earned run — and he moves to 8-4 on the season. The three walks are the one thing keeping this from being a truly dominant line, but he competed through traffic and gave the Drillers length. That’s win number eight. At some point we need to start taking this guy seriously as more than just a Double-A arm.

The offense backed him up in a big way. Sam Mongelli launched a homer and drove in three runs (2-for-4), and Chris Newell went deep as well — a two-run shot — though the three strikeouts alongside it remind you he’s still refining the approach. Kendall George continued to impress at the top of the order, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, and two runs scored. George’s ability to get on base and create damage from the leadoff spot is real. Nelson Quiroz had a nice night behind the plate too — 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Jose Izarra added a two-RBI double, and Kole Myers scored twice. Josue De Paula picked up an RBI and a stolen base from the DH spot. Balanced effort all around.

Great Lakes Loons (High-A) — W, 11-1 vs Fort Wayne

This was the most dominant pitching performance of the night across the system, and it wasn’t particularly close. Hyun-Seok Jang earned his first win of the season, spinning six shutout innings with eight strikeouts and — here’s the part that jumps off the page — zero walks. Eight punchouts, no free passes. That’s elite command for any level, let alone High-A. Jang was in total control, and this is a name worth following as the second half progresses. Keep an eye on this one.

The Loons’ lineup piled on. Emil Morales was the catalyst, going 2-for-3 with two walks, an RBI, and three runs scored. The shortstop was on base four times in five plate appearances — that’s as productive as it gets. Charles Davalan went 2-for-5 with two runs, and Logan Wagner drove in two. Chase Harlan scored twice with an RBI and a walk. Jaron Elkins drove in two runs of his own despite going just 1-for-3, drawing a walk and getting hit by a pitch — he was finding ways to contribute even without hard contact. Even Jose Meza got in on it, going 0-for-2 but drawing two walks and driving in a run. This was a team-wide offensive effort with an 11-1 final. Not much else to say.

Ontario Tower Buzzers (Single-A) — L, 2-12 vs Fresno

Rough one in Ontario. A 2-12 loss doesn’t leave a lot of bright spots, so let’s not pretend otherwise. The two names worth pulling from the wreckage: Mairoshendrick Martinus went 3-for-4 with a walk — he simply refused to have a bad night at the plate even while everything around him fell apart. And Kellon Lindsey drew three walks and stole a base in just two at-bats (1-for-2). That’s five times on base between the two of them. Sometimes that’s all you can take from a game like this. The pitching staff got hit hard and the result was never really in doubt. These are the nights that come with development ball. Flush it and move on.

DSL Dodgers (Rookie) — Split: W 5-1 vs DSL Braves / L 8-14 vs DSL Orioles Black

A split day for our DSL squad. The win over the Braves affiliate was a solid, well-pitched game. Alexander Pichardo opened with four scoreless innings (3 K, 1 BB), and Ismanuel Rondon followed with three innings of his own — four strikeouts, one walk, zero earned runs, picking up the win (2-1). That’s seven combined innings of shutout ball from the pitching staff. At the plate, Adrian Del Cid hit a solo homer for the big blow. Aaron Guzman went 2-for-4 with a triple and a double, driving in a run — the extra-base hits are encouraging for a young bat at this level. Rubel Arias and Ariel Reynoso each drew two walks and scored, while Jeibert Rondon swiped a bag after reaching via HBP.

The second game was a different story entirely. An 8-14 loss to the Orioles Black squad, and the pitching just couldn’t hold up. Nehemias Valdez had a particularly tough outing — 1.1 innings, five earned runs, and three walks (blown save). That’s the kind of inning that spirals fast, especially at this level where walks pile up quickly. On the offensive side, Luis Tovar hit a three-run homer (1-for-5), and Jesus Villaflor drove in two with a triple. Brayan Holguin added a two-RBI double, and Jose Rivas went 3-for-4 with a walk from the catching spot. Luis Luna had two hits including a double. Eight runs is plenty of offense — the pitching just couldn’t keep pace. These are teenagers, and days like this happen. The development is the point.
