Dodgers Prospects: Miguel Vargas Triple-A Player of the Year, Ryan Pepiot an All-Star

The post-season honors have started in the minor leagues. Baseball America has named Miguel Vargas as their Triple-A Player of the Year. They also put Vargas on their Triple-A All-Star team as well as naming Ryan Pepiot as one of the All-Star starters.

Miguel Vargas

For his first full season in Triple-A and at the age of 22, Vargas had a slash of .304/.404/.511 (AVG/OBP/SLG) with 17 home runs and 82 RBI. He also walked 71 times while striking out 76. For an added bonus he stole 16 bases. Overall, he proved he mastered Triple-A and is now on the Dodgers Major League roster. I do not expect him to be demoted to the minors again.

Ryan Pepiot

2022 was quite a season for Ryan Pepiot as he was named a starting pitcher on the Triple-A All-Star team. He put together quite a Triple-A season with 19 games pitched (17 starts), 91.1 innings pitched, and 114 strikeouts with 36 walks. In those innings, he gave up only 62 hits with an ERA of 2.56. At the same time, the Dodgers called up Pepiot six times where he made 9 appearances (with 7 starts). The OKC to LA express was wild and crazy for Pepiot and Michael Grove.

Final Thoughts

Congratulations to Miguel Vargas and Ryan Pepiot on the first of what could be many 2022 awards. Both of these guys have been friends of our site and are going to be a big part of the future of the Dodgers.
