Dave Roberts Says ‘Everything Is On The Table’ to Manage Shohei Ohtani‘s Workload

Dave Roberts pulled Shohei Ohtani from the lineup on Tuesday when he took the mound against the Astros — only the third time this season Ohtani has sat out as a hitter. Roberts had originally planned for Ohtani to handle full two-way duties, but changed course after watching him struggle in the series opener. Roberts told reporters that “everything is on the table” when it comes to managing Ohtani’s workload going forward, per DodgerBlue.com staff. I like this. You don’t grind your franchise cornerstone into dust before the All-Star break. If that means giving him the occasional day off from hitting on pitching days, so be it (and this one bears watching as we get deeper into the season).
