Dodgers Legend Davey Lopes Passes Away at 80
CONFIRMEDWe lost a legend. Davey Lopes, the leadoff man and second baseman from our historic infield that ran from 1973 to 1981, has died at 80. He helped us win it all in ’81 and was as tough as they come — grew up rough in Rhode Island and turned himself into one of the best baserunners the game has ever seen. That infield with him, Bill Russell, Steve Garvey, and Ron Cey was something we’ll never see again. Rest easy, Davey. Reported by the LA Times staff.
