Dodgers Prospects: Players Added to 40-man Roster

As we wrote two days ago today was the final day for the Dodgers to add players to the 40-man roster.

This is a momentous occasion for these players. From a personal perspective I met and covered  Gerardo Carrillo, André Jackson and Edwin Uceta while covering the Quakes. They are outstanding young men and were very kind to me. Zach Reks has been a late bloomer with power at the plate. We’ll have some more to say about each of these players soon.

From André Jackson:

I’m very excited for me and my family. I know the end goal is to be in the big leagues but I’m very happy that the Dodgers believe in me and to that I’m taking the next step in my career.

The negative side is that players like Omar Estevez, Brett de Gues, Cody Thomas and Jeren Kendall are now subject to the Rule 5 draft. Frankly I am shocked as the Dodgers still have four more roster spaces to fill. Maybe more are still being added and we’ll keep you up to date.

Does this signal the Dodgers are giving up on Jaren Kendall?
Thanks to your website I know they have young prospects like Cuadrado, Luis Rodriguez, Vogel, and other Outfielders in the pipeline.
I thought with Thomas’s breakout this Spring they would have protected him and de Geus with his potential.
I am curious that if their incredible success in the 2020 draft with Miller, Beeter, Knack, and Stone if they are now setting the bar higher on prospects to keep.
Also, if the continued improvement of Jackson, Grove, Uceta, Carrillo, and others sets the bar higher for players to protect.? Obviously, if I were player and pitching poor like the Angels and others I would jump on some of the Dodger players left vulnerable to the draft.

Thank you for reading. Regarding Kendall I believe they are sure that he won’t be drafted. I don’t think they’ve given up on him. Still, a lot of work to be done. I’m shocked about Thomas and de Geus also.
